About Membership Index

Membership Index is an independent directory of paid and free online communities. It currently indexes 351 communities, with more platforms to follow.

Online communities are unusually hard to compare. They are scattered across platforms with limited discovery, pricing is often only visible after you click through, and there is no neutral place to see how one compares with another on size, activity or cost. This index exists to make that comparison possible before you spend anything.

How listings are compiled

Listings are compiled from publicly accessible pages on the platforms that host them. We record the community name, description, member count, pricing and the public profile details of the owner. We do not collect or store email addresses, and we do not access anything behind a login or a paywall.

How communities are ranked

Ranking is computed, not editorial. Each community receives a score built from three signals: its member count, its posting activity (weighted towards posts per member, so that an engaged community is not beaten by a larger dormant one), and how complete its listing is. Ties break on member count.

No placement is for sale. There is no advertising on this site, no sponsored positions and no paid inclusion. Claiming a listing verifies it; it does not move it up.

What is excluded

Some communities are deliberately not listed. We exclude communities whose primary purpose is sourcing unregulated pharmaceuticals, gambling and adult content. This is an editorial decision rather than a judgement about legality.

If it is your community

You can find your listing and claim it to verify the details and have anything incorrect fixed. If you would rather not be listed at all, use the removal form and we will action it within seven days.

Membership Index is operated by Growth Maps Media Ltd. Community names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners, and listing here does not imply any affiliation or endorsement in either direction.
