Open Road English offers tools for intermediate learners who understand English but freeze when it’s time to speak. Mari focuses on closing the gap between what you know and what you can say through conversation-based sessions (30- or 50-minute lessons, plus packages) using shadowing and weekly “pocket phrases.” There’s also a Mystery Book Club with weekly chapters and audio in real American English.

We're reading a book together! Right now, the book is called The Guesthouse on Rua das Floras. The book is eight weekly chapters, about two months. When it ends, the next mystery begins, and your membership carries straight into it. A new chapter every week, with audio. An original mystery written for intermediate learners, in real American English, read aloud by me. A book that helps you while you read. Tap any word you don't know for a simple definition. Every idiom explained by me, in plain…
That's what the trial lesson is for. One 50-minute session with me, built around real conversation, not a quiz and not a sales pitch. We shadow real sentences, find your pocket phrase for the week, and end with a game where you describe a word without ever saying it. I moved to Bangkok three months ago and I'm learning Thai as a total beginner. I know exactly what it feels like to know a little and say nothing anyway. Book your trial lesson and let's find out where you freeze.
Thirty minutes, one on one, just a conversation. We talk about your actual life, work, family, whatever's on your mind. Bring a worksheet, bring something you want to shadow, or bring nothing at all. I moved to Bangkok three months ago and I'm learning Thai as a total beginner. I know what it's like to have the words in your head and nowhere to put them. Book a 30-minute conversation and just talk.
I want to invite you into The Open Road Community. It's a free space for women learning English. No level requirement, no catch, and it's not going anywhere. It's the front door to everything I do, and I'd like you to come in. Here's why I built it. I'm American, and I live in Thailand. I'm learning Thai, and I'm not good at it. What I've found is that the hardest part isn't the tones or the vocabulary. It's finding someone who actually understands what it's like to have a full personality in…
